What is the ONCC you may ask? WELL, the ON Campus Challenge is a 6-week nation-wide competition between 80+ colleges with the goal of getting as many community members – students, faculty, staff, community residents – outdoors as possible, whether it's through biking, hiking, walking, stargazing, outdoor yoga, kayaking, you name it, from September 4th- October 15th. As a participating school, we receive a $500 grant to get activities and events rolling, and even better, awesome weekly goodies to give away from sponsors like Chaco, REI, The North Face, Osprey, and more! The more people we have signed up and active, the more funding Middlebury College can get.
THE CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN! It takes less than a minute to sign up before you can start logging in activities through your account. The list of the activities appears on the site, and some will give you more points than others. SIGN UP HERE:
This year, a mobile app will be available to download for all smartphone devices! Just search for the Outdoor Nation app.
Fortnightly Feature
Spotlight on nearby trails
We are excited to introduce our fourth Fortnightly Featured Trail! MMC loves these trails, and you will too. We choose accessible day hikes that you can hike on your own time.
Snake Mountain
Snake Mountain is the classic Midd hike—it's close, relatively easy, and has great views of the Champlain valley. Unfortunately, there have been middkids who go up to see some foliage and end up on the other side of the mountain because they turn onto the wrong trail. But if you're paying attention, it's not that hard to stay on the right trail. Click here for driving and trail directions so you don't get lost on Snake Mountain
