Fireside Workshop and Barbecue

Friday, May 6th
What is it with nature writing and all of the #grumpyoldmen? Muir, Leopold, Abbey...the list goes on. They may be household names, but they aren't exactly "à la mode" anymore--even if their #lumbersexual look appears to be all the rage again (oh hey there Portland). Move aside grumpy old men, it's time to get avant-garde: The Middlebury Fireside cordially invites you to partake in a chill gathering of writers and artists and people of diverse genres, backgrounds, and voices at the Hadley Barn near the Kirk Alumni Center. This Friday, May 6, from 3-6pm, the Fireside Magazine is hosting a writing workshop/BBQ/end of semester gathering to eat and write and talk together! Go/grumpyoldmen for more information. Hope to see you there!
Fortnightly Feature
Spotlight on nearby trails
We are excited to introduce our fourth Fortnightly Featured Trail! MMC loves these trails, and you will too. We choose accessible day hikes that you can hike on your own time.
Skylight Pond:
Skylight Pond is another easy day hike in the Greens that's not too far away from campus. While there's no view at the top, there is (as the name suggests) a beautiful pond and a cabin with a porch where you can have a picnic! The trail is easy to follow and climbs for 2.6 miles through a mossy forest, crossing a few streams towards the beginning. Directions are here--a sign marks the parking lot on the right.

Do you love going on trips? Do you admire your awesome MMC guides? We're always looking for new MMC guides. Become one yourself by following these 5 easy steps! Email the head guide, Parker Peltzer, at with any questions.
