Mount Abe with Emma and Ryan Week 2
Get up well before the sun to see it rise from the top of Mount Abe! We will leave ADK at 4:15 am for a 7:19 sunrise, followed by some sledding down lincoln gap and be back in time for 10:00 classes. Bring lots of warm layers (it's usually pretty windy up there), hat, gloves, boots, microspikes (possibly snowshoes), headlamp, and a water bottle. We will provide some scrumptious snacks. Should be lots of fun! Expect ~6 miles of medium-strenuous winter hiking! Sign up here.
Backcountry Skiing Overnight to Stratton Pond with Laura
Ski with Laura this weekend on the Catamount Trail. We'll leave Friday morning at 10:30 and head to southern VT where we'll ski 4 of the 300 miles of the Catamount Trail to Stratton Pond, the largest body of water along the Long Trail! After spending the night there in a shelter or at a tent site, we'll ski back out Saturday for a total of about 8 miles. Participants should be comfortable on Nordic skis. Ski you there! Sign up here.

New Outdoor Magazine:
The Middlebury Fireside

Have you ever done anything exciting outside? Did you get above a 200 on the writing section of the SAT? Well, The Middlebury Fireside is looking for story submissions for its first journal publication in quite some time! Some outdoor enthusiasts are working to get this beautiful aspect of the Middlebury outdoor community in full swing and need your help! Please submit your favorite tales, from the simplest jaunt across the Great Range to the most harrowing/death defying/finger losing/face freezing/crevasse traversing excursion on the TAM or worse! Please submit your writings to middleburyfireside.wordpress.com
(by the end of J-Term preferably) so we can get cracking on publishing and hopefully have a physical publication to carry with you and read to your future children.
