J-Term Happenings with MMC!

J-Term MMC Happenings

BOARD MEETINGS!
Come out to weekly MMC meetings! Use that extra free time this month to check out what's happening at board meetings. All are welcome, even if you've never been to a meeting. Learn about what we're doing and contribute to planning some of our next events, including Northern Lights, the next fireside dinner, collaborations with other clubs, and our annual naked calendars! Bring ideas, friends, and your dinner and meet the rest of the MMC crew on Wednesday at 6pm in LaForce 121!
UNITED WE SKI
Tuesday, January 14th at 7:30 pm
Please join us for a screening of United We Ski in Dana Auditorium tomorrow at 7:30 pm. United We Ski brings community-based storytelling to the forefront of ski film production, highlighting Vermont's community ski areas, as well as lost ski areas and secret ski tows hidden amongst the sugar-bushes of Vermont. The screening will be followed by a Q&A and discussion on Vermont's changing ski industry with:
Tyler Wilkinson-Ray, T-Bar Films co-founder and filmmaker
Blake Harrison, Vermont historian and author of The View From Vermont: Tourism and the Making of an American Rural Landscape
Maya von Wodtke, Middlebury senior thesis student, "Discovering White Gold: The Changing Role of State Government in Vermont's Ski Industry, 1934-1975"
MMC MAGAZINE
This year, the MMC is branching out to publications. Our new publishing coordinator is beginning to organize ideas for a MMC magazine (to be named soon!) and is looking for folks interested in submitting outdoor themed writings, stories, poems, and photographs, etc. We're also seeking someone with graphic design experience to design a magazine logo. It is a project in the works and we're looking for any and all input! Email Ben at bdharris@middlebury.edu if you're interested.
NORTHERN LIGHTS
Friday, February 14th
Save the date! Our annual contribution to Winter Carnival will return, complete with human dogsled races, tug-of-war, snowball fights, hot cider, music, and more. Be on the look out for team sign-ups soon!
KILLINGTON SKI TRIP
Friday, January 17th
Lift tickets are discounted, and the bus to the mountain is included. Biggest skiing in the east. Killington is also at a pretty high altitude, so it's supposed to be below freezing this entire week with some fresh snow. Sign up at go/boxoffice by 7PM on Thursday (though it is expected to fill up much sooner).
LAST CALL FOR TASTEFULLY NUDE CALENDAR PHOTOS!
Last call to make your outdoorsy, nude photos part of this year's MMC calendar. We've gotten quite a few photos but we're still looking for more! So gather up some friends and get naked out there. Send them in to MMC@middlebury.edu ASAP.

GEAR HOURS
What do you need for your J-term adventures? Stop by Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 to 7:30 for crampons, snow shoes, backcountry skiis, etc in the Gear Room!
