MOUNTAINFILM on TOUR comes to Middlebury November 10!!!
Don't miss this film series packed with mountain bikingexpedition climbingarctic circle surfingraging whitewater, and a special surprise connection to Middlebury!  MountainFilm on tour is a film festival in Telluride, CO which we are fortunate enough to host right here on campus in Dana Auditorium Nov 10 7pm.  Check out the posters for inspiration...

Do you love playing outdoors? Hanging by the fireside? Living with people who love those things too?  Well then it sounds like Brooker House may be the place for you.  We are a community of 30 students who love being active outdoors.  We are now accepting applications for Jterm/Spring Semester. We accept sophomores, juniors, seniors, and all those in between (yea, we're looking at you febs).  Please keep in mind that priority goes to those who are active outdoor enthusiasts on Middlebury Campus and seniority will also be taken into consideration.  To apply go to:go/outdoorinterest and submit an application by the end of November 1

wandering into the Haunted Forest.  
Join us for a short hike from campus 
up Chipman Hill on Thursday, October 31.  We will leave around 4:30 from Proctor Terrace and reach the top just in time to see the sunset.  Hot chocolate and trick-or-treats will be provided. COSTUMES MANDATORY! Sign-Up HERE and indicate you're favorite candy!!
Come on a wondrous Saturday day hike in the Adirondacks with us this weekend! There have been rumors of slightly snowy peaks and we're on a mission to find them. We will be climbing Big Slide Mountain in the High Peaks region. The hike is about 8 miles round trip and moderate difficulty. All hikers are welcome. We'll leave campus at 9 AM and be back in time for dinner! Sign-Up HERE
Beginner Rock Climbing with Zach 11/4
Fall is the best time to climb in New England! Come join us on a crisp fall day for an afternoon of easy rock climbing, with sweeping views of Lake Dunmore, the Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks. We'll leave from campus at 12:30 and be back before dinner. Sign-Up HERE
OUTDOOR EXPLORERS CLUB at Bridport Elementary School!
Do you like working with children? What about exploring the great outdoors? If you answered "yes" to these questions, you should come to Bridport Elementary School on Wednesday afternoons from 2-4 with Meena and Robin! We are running an after-school club for grades 1-4 and we will be teaching a variety of outdoor skills/playing a lot of crazy fun games with the kids and we would love some help! If you are interested in helping out this week or any other Wednesday for the rest of the semester, email Meena Fernald at
Middlebury Outdoor Programs is now accepting applications for Februrary Outdoor Orientation (FOO) Coordinaton.  It's MIDDVIEW--for FEBS! Leader applications will advertised separately--this is the application for the COORDINATOR.  Must be here for J-Term, application available at go/seo
PEAK SNOWSHOE RACE in MARCH, early bird offer!
While the registration for the MMC team for our annual Peak Snowshoe Race is yet to come, we didn't want you to miss the early bird offer which is....

Anyone who signs up for the half marathon or full marathon will receive a free pair of snowshoes compliments of Vermont Snowshoe Company!  You must sign up in the next TWO DAYS (by Oct 30) to be eligible for the snowshoes.  Register at  
HIKE OF THE WEEK: Mt. Abe via Battell Trail
Visit the closest alpine zone to campus on the peak of the 5th tallest peak in VT via the 5.8 mile round trip Battell Trail.  Enjoy some rock scrambling at the top after a switchback trail, passing a classic Green Mountain Club Lean-To on the way.  Clear skies yield Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks as well as the Long Trail Ridge.  Driving: Rt 7 N to Rt 17E through Bristol, turn R after bridge, following signs to Lincoln, turn onto Quaker road and then right on Elder Rd, following signs for Battell Trail, about 30 minutes from campus.  See if you can find the plane....
Want to go adventuring? Need some gear...? We are now up and running in Freeman International Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:30 so come stop by!  It's free!
