RIVERFEST, OVERNIGHT TRIPS, DAY TRIPS, and MORE!

LEDYARD RIVERFEST-- THIS WEEKEND
April 12th-14th
Dartmouth's Ledyard Canoe Club is hosting the 5th Annual Ledyard Riverfest. RiverFest is a celebration of the wonderful rivers and paddlers of the Northeast. The festival kicks off with a triathlon (canoe, bike, run) and conservation and kayaking film screenings on Friday. The main events of the weekend are the 10th annual Wells River Rumble, a class IV downriver creek boat race, and the Mascoma Slalom, the longest consecutively held whitewater slalom race in the U.S. Ledyard will also be hosting a festival party onSaturday evening at the Outing Club House on Dartmouth College's campus. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the live music, food, complementary beer, raffle, and gear prizes for the winners. All proceeds from the Ledyard River Festival go to American Whitewater.

DAY HIKE AND SWIM
Friday, April 26th
If you've a hankering for the perfect springtime afternoon activity, join Kari and Anna for a jaunt up to Rattlesnake cliffs followed by a dip in Lake Dunmore for the stout of heart. We'll leave at 12:45pm from Adirondack Circle and be back around 5:00pm. Included: snacks. Required: water and layers. Suggested: inflatable alligators. Email knielsen@middlebury.edu to sign up.

ADIRONDACKS WITH RYAN, BEN AND JACK 4/26-4/27
Leave on Friday around 12:30pm for this ridge romp summiting Upper Wolfjaw, Armstrong and Gothics! Return to Midd by dinnertime on Saturday. Moderate hiking experience recommended. Email Ryan at rmcelroy@middlebury.edu<mailto:rmcelroy@middlebury.edu> to sign up.

KLONDIKE NOTCH WITH ANNA AND KARI 5/4-5/5
Come join Kari and Anna on a hike through Klondike Notch in the Adirondacks! This will be a moderate hike, about 8.5 miles in total. We can shed our packs at a lean-to and head up to the notch to look over the surrounding valleys and mountains. We'll leave on Saturday morning and get back Sunday evening. All hikers welcome! WEEKLY MEETINGS
Join us for our weekly board meetings! 6:00 PM on Wednesdays in Laforce 121 (outside Ross Dining Hall). It's the best way to get involved in the MMC and we love newcomers!

KAYAK ROLLING
7:00 PM on Thursdays in the natatorium!

GEAR ROOM
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:30 come by FIC and borrow gear! All checkouts are free (assuming you return gear on time) and last for one week.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASSES
Attending one of these classes to get a college van license is one of the requirements for becoming an MMC guide. This class will get you a 7-passenger license; to get a 15-passenger license, you must have had your state license for at least 3 years and need to schedule a road test with Ed Sullivan after the class.

LEDYARD RIVERFEST DETAILS...
Friday April 12
Canoe Paddle, Bike, Run Triathlon – Ledyard Canoe Club Hanover, NH
3:00 p.m. – The paddle section will be held on the Connecticut, and the running and biking portion will be on loops in Norwich Vt. and Hanover NH.
Conservation on Tap – Paganucci Lounge, 53 Commons
7:30 p.m. – We will be showing several conservation and kayak related films, holding a discussion and serving complementary pizza, salad and Smuttynose beer.
Saturday April 13
Wells River Race – Wells River, VT
9:00-10:00 a.m. – Registration
11:00 a.m. – Mass race start
The Wells River Race is a Class IV creak boat race that includes a mass start and a subsequent heat. Race places are determined by the average of these two times. Participants must be comfortable kayaking class IV whitewater.
Riverfest Party – Occom DOC House
7:00 p.m. – Party includes Wells River Race Award Ceremony, vendor booths, gear raffle, complementary Smuttynose beer, and a concert featuring Toast, a campus band that includes Zach Cutler '14, a Ledyardmember and leader. All participants and spectators are encouraged to come!
Sunday April 14th
Mascoma Slalom – Mascoma, NH
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. – Registration
11:00 a.m. – Race Start
The Mascoma Slalom Race is a class II-III river and open to participants of all kayaking levels. An award ceremony will be held at the end of the races and prized will be awarded.
