Remember how much fun the square dance was during orientation? Well contra dancing is like square dancing but even cooler! Join us and a visiting band from St. Lawrence University-- Bingo Town Couch Parade-- for some rollickin' good times! Then, we'll all head over to Brooker for Fireside!

GUIDE MEETING(s)

CURRENT GUIDES and Prospective Guides Looking for CO-LEADS come to get trips on the calendar! Winter guides, this is your time to shine; basic hiking guides, the whole semester is up for grabs, so come stake out your weekends later in the spring. Then, hang around for Fireside with the new Febs!
6:30 PM: ANYONE INTERESTED IN GUIDING come to learn what guiding for the MMC is all about, how you become a guide, what kinds of trips you can lead, and why guiding is DOPE. Yes, we realize that this coincides with the Feb welcome event-- we want the Febs to learn about guiding too, and we want you to get to enjoy a home-cooked Fireside meal!

Hey there new Febs! We've got an event planned JUST FOR YOU so that you can learn all about our club and how to keep doing mountainy things during your time at Midd! Skip Proctor and head to Brooker for a home-cooked dinner-- fireside style. You'll get to meet MMC guides and board members, ask questions about how to pursue your favorite extreme sports, learn more about how to sign up for trips (or become a guide and LEAD trips), watch a slideshow of FOO photos, and hang out in one of the best houses on campus! Hang around afterward for some badass bluegrass in Brooker Basement at 9PM (see below)!

Finish off the night of MMC fun with some badass bluegrass from this visiting St. Lawrence University band!

DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASSES
Attending one of these classes to get a college van license is one of the requirements for becoming an MMC guide. This class will get you a 7-passenger license; to get a 15-passenger license, you must have had your state license for at least 3 years and need to schedule a road test with Ed Sullivan after the class.

DARTMOUTH CLIMBING COMP

The date for the competition has been changed (it's no longer this Sunday), but it's still happening! Email mmc@middlebury.edu if you're interested and we'll get a van together.

PEAK SNOWSHOE RACE
March 2nd
Interested in snowshoeing at high speeds? The PEAK snowshoe race is a great event that happens annually. Check it out here (http://peakraces.peak.com/snowshoe/) and if you're interested, email mmc@middlebury.edu and we'll consider putting a Middlebury team together and covering your entrance fee!

GEAR ROOM
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:30 come by FIC and borrow gear! All checkouts are free (assuming you return gear on time) and last for one week.

WEEKLY MEETINGS
Join us for our weekly board meetings! 6:00 PM on Wednesdays in Laforce 121 (outside Ross Dining Hall). It's the best way to get involved in the MMC and we love newcomers!

KAYAK ROLLING
7:00 PM on Thursdays in the natatorium!

Wild Gift is a nonprofit organization based in Sun Valley, Idaho committed to solving today's social and environmental problems by investing in better-world entrepreneurs.

Wild Gift funds and mentors emerging social entrepreneurs, ages 21-35. Successful applicants have demonstrated leadership in projects or community activities that have resulted in new solutions to today's societal problems and have the commitment, capacity and passion to make this change happen.

If selected to join the Network, fellows will receive The Wild Gift, which consists of:
· a deep wilderness trek in the Idaho wilderness to refine your vision,
· up to $350.00 for travel expenses to Sun Valley, Idaho,
· the opportunity to receive up to $10,000 as a grant to further your work,
· access to professional mentors to help translate your vision to reality,
· a network of talented peers offering support, guidance and an entrepreneurial community, and
· continued growth through annual retreats and trips to the wild.

Fellows become part of a dynamic and growing community of Wild Gift leaders and are encouraged to stay involved via retreats and wilderness trips.
