FOO EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
I wanted to let everyone know about an opportunity to be part of this year's FOO Emergency Response Team. This team will work as an emergency response team for the February Outdoor Orientation trips. Basically it is a group of EMTs and Wilderness First Responders that stage at the college while the FOO trips are in the field. If there is an incident on a trip, the team can either help evacuate a student so the trip can stay in the field, or if it is a more serious incident we work with the local emergency response group and can provide additional manpower. The FOO Emergency Response Team is not part of SERT - it is run through the Mountain Club - and it is a PAID opportunity. If you are interested please email me for more information; the team composition will be finalized by the end of January/early February. FOO trips take place the weekend after the first week of class in the spring, and you must be available that whole weekend (February 16th at 7am until February 17th at 7pm). There are no specific requirements, but I am looking to recruit 4-5 crewmembers who can form an effective team with a balance of EMS experience and outdoor winter and backcountry experience. In the fall we had ten people apply and recruited four, so be sure to put in your application soon. This posting will also be sent through the Mountain Club, but the minimum qualification is EITHER Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or EMT. Email sssingh@middlebury.edu<mailto:sssingh@middlebury.edu> if you are interested.

HERE COMES KAYAKING!
We are re-vamping our kayak program and are PSYCHED. Email aatwood@middlebury.edu<mailto:aatwood@middlebury.edu> if you want to learn to kayak, already know how to kayak and want kayak buddies/gear, are a super-badass kayaker ready to show off, or just want to watch bombflow videos<http://lists.middlebury.edu/t/685582/760165/5569/0/> with some cool kids.
