This Thursday the 22nd
Slideshow: 8-9 PM BiHall 220
**REVISION: Unfortunately, Matt is no longer able to lead the clinic section of the event. The slideshow will continue as planned.**
Matt Wilder: "Through this multimedia show I'll try to figure out why I tend to find myself far above gear with hard moves between me and safety --- a question I ask myself often. I'll begin by tracking my history as a climber following my split identity as a boulderer and a trad climber with some classic photos from my early days. The bulk of the show will highlight classic climbs and boulder problems I've established, repeated, or failed on in the past. The show will culminate with a personal narrative of my experience establishing two new 5.14R trad routes in the Front Range, Viceroy and Cheating Reality, accompanied by video footage and photo sequences. I'll also explore my quest for the ultimate trad route that combines runout 5.13 climbing with a fairly well protected V13 or harder boulder problem."

For those interested, there will be a fly-fishing outing to a local river this Saturday, September 24, with guides Michael Dickerson (2011.5) and Prof. Matthew Dickerson. Interested anglers of all abilities are welcome. Equipment will be provided (wading gear, rods, and flies) for those in need. Both fishing and casting instruction will be offered for those interested.  We will meet in front of ADK at 7:45am and depart by 8:00am.  We will return to campus by lunch time. If you are interested, sign up in advance so that we will have enough transportation space and extra equipment. Send a note to Michael Dickerson <mdickers@middlebury.edu> with your name, e-mail, and contact phone number, and whether you will need any equipment or will want any instruction.  Note that for anybody who actually wants to get into the river and fish, a Vermont fishing license is required. They can be purchased on-line at: http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/buylicense.cfm for as little as $20 for a 1-day license, or $22 for a season license if you have been a student at least two-semesters or are a Vermont resident.

If interested, please respond by Thursday at noon to <mdickers@middlebury.edu> with your name, e-mail, and contact phone number, and whether you will need any equipment or will want any instruction.  Let us know also if you would like to drive your own vehicle.
